Position Description

As UCare’s Marketing Proofreader, you will be responsible to perform meticulous reviews of marketing materials to ensure accuracy, alignment with brand guidelines and voice. You will review copy (text) to look for errors such as punctuation, spelling, word usage, and checking statements for accuracy. You will collaborate with the Content Strategist Supervisors, writers, and other staff to ensure marketing communications meet product and benefit accuracy, along with required state and government regulated content. Additional attention to quality assurance, SEO for web pages, email journeys, sales enablement materials, prioritized member communications, and copywriting for go-to-market advertising. In addition, you will proof communications across all traditional and digital channels, including best practices for multi-channel writing. Consistently work to identify process improvement and other opportunities to enhance quality of content.

• Proofread marketing communications specific to UCare health plans such as member and sales enablement items. Confirm submitted writing is original, meets tone and style requirements, reading grade level, fact-checking dates, benefit information and other statements for accuracy — make corrections and suggest edits to ensure deadlines are met.

• Perform final quality assurance review step for digital content best practices including SEO, web pages, email, digital campaign creative, and others as needed. Ensure content is aligned across all formats when part of omni-channel marketing campaigns.

• Ensure content aligns with specific segmentation (audiences) across communications and support products for Minnesota and new markets.

• Collaborate with Marketing Project Managers, Content Strategists, Communication Leads, Digital Specialists, and Designers for project coordination and proofreading review timelines using Workfront proofing tool.

• Edit content for Associated Press (AP) style, basic and advanced grammar rules, UCare writing style guide and other UCare-operated brand styles.

• Proofread additional content (i.e., newsletters, website downloads (PDFs), etc.) as needed.

• Follow workflow process as outlined by UCare Marketing team.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or Marketing Communications, or closely related field. Demonstrated experience considered in lieu of a degree. Advanced degree preferred.

Required Experience

At least three years of experience in a proofreader, copy writer or similar role in healthcare, health insurance, financial, or highly regulated industry. Experience working in a web-based marketing project management tool. Demonstrated ability to learn a corporate style guide and its rules when reviewing copy, finding, and noting errors such as punctuation, spelling, and word usage, as well as tone and recommending “say it simple” clear language where needed.

Preferred Experience

Experience in proofing complex regulatory documents in a SaaS system. Experience in marketing channel execution including marketing communications for members and prospects and go-to-market advertising for traditional and digital channels. Knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid regulatory review processes.
